Adopt a Senior for the Holidays

The holiday season can be a lonely and isolating time for senior citizens. Join me in spreading holiday cheer for residents at Elderwood Village of Fairport and Solstice Senior Living. Your generosity will go toward a personalized gift to remember the special generation so often forgotten.

There are two ways of giving

1. You will be given the name and some information about a resident, to help you choose a personalized, meaningful gift(s). You can drop the gift(s) off at the designated living facility on December 22nd (info to follow).

2. You can send a monetary donation ($30 suggested value) to Yve Irish (info to follow) and the shopping will be done for you.

Details are still being finalizing. Please contact Yve Irish if you are interested in participating and she will get back to you with the information in the coming weeks.

Please contact yve@organizingbyYve.com or text 585-201-6009.

Tool Thrift Shop makes One Million Dollar$

The Tool Thrift Shop, started in November 2020, is a non-profit volunteer run business that provides reuse of donated tools and hardware, while raising funds to support Senior Options for Independence (SOFI). SOFI is a Perinton-based program to keep Seniors living independently.

Their success is based on volunteer(s) and community support, from donations to purchasing items for use, as well as the support from the local business community.

The Tool Thrift Shop sales of one (1) million dollars over ten years has allowed for $700,000 in support of this valuable and unique community-based service that helps to make Perinton a special place to live.

A celebration to honor this success was held on October 6, 2021, allowing volunteers, local officials and those important to the Shop's success, to gather and celebrate. A proclamation was received from the Town of Perinton and honored Tom Poelma, President/CEO of Fairport Baptist Homes for his support.
